My parents are visiting from Florida and took my family to the museum. Apparently one of the curators was a good friend to my younger brother, so we got to hang out with her for half the visit (until her job called, that is).
I took a few pics, not nearly as much as I wanted though. While dealing with two kids, and just feeling like a child in a candy store myself, I was occupied.
Also, the Allegheny Locomotive (the big black train), when I saw it I straight up asked my curator friend if “I could steal it”. Her response? “I think we’d notice”. I quickly replied “I’d still like to try though.”
Two of my favorites were the GT and the GT40 cars.

That DC3 tho.....
Also that Bugatti....
I agree with you on the Steam engine though - rode on several historic railways with them as a kid and they are just always so damned impressive...

There were many beautiful cars there.

You should have checked out the Ford Piquette Ave Plant.

Very cool. I’ll have to make that trip someday.
I had to laugh when I saw the W einermobile. I spotted one of the Nutmobiles eastbound on I-10 between Houston and Baton Rough this past Sunday. I was trying to explain what I saw to my wife and had to start with something she was familiar with, the Weinermobile. Seeing it posted here reminded me of that goofy conversation.

It’s worth going if you can.

Last time I talked with the curators there, they said it was more difficult to find some of the crap low-end cars than the fancy ones. Because who saves an ‘87 dodge caravan in museum-quality condition?

I got to go a few months back while visiting my wife’s family (she grew up in Michigan and had been there many times, but it was a first for me). Definitely one of the coolest museums I’ve ever been to, if just for the sheer number of cool vehicles everywhere.
I took a ton of photos in the short time we had there, most of which I don’t have with me, but I like this one I snagged on my film camera
Hopefully I’ll get a chance to go back when I’ve got some more time to kill!

I was surprised at the low-end cars condition; they were really good. Like garage kept, never driven good.

This was my second time going, first time remembering it. Apparently I went as a young kid. And I’m a born and raised Michigander, so don’t feel too bad! Lol
